Allen R. Smith, 74 of Rockford died on January 13, 2018 in his home. Born on October 30, 1943 in Janesville, WI, son of Roy and Mabel (Thompson) Smith. Served in the United States Army and Air Force. Allen was generous to a fault, and occasionally ornery. Survived by his children, Walter "Butch" (Shellie) Smith of Rockford, Penny (Chad) Musso of Loves Park, Howard (Melinda) Smith of Alamosa, CO, Michelle (Gordon) Mooney of Elizabethtown, KY, Shannon (Doug) Murphy of Rockford; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Sheri (Mike) Treuthardt, Tom Smith, Tammie "Chickie" McAllister, all of WI; special friends, Judy Lee of Loves Park, Karen Enrico of Rockford and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Pam Martalock, Joyce Smith and brother, Brad Smith. Allen's family is thankful to OSF St. Anthony Hospice for their loving care. Celebration of Life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his honor may be made to OSF St. Anthony Hospice. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family.
