Allan R. Hoover, 77, of Rockford, died on Aug. 11, 2021 surrounded by his family. The son of Ernest M. and Edna (Eliers) Hoover. Allan married Diana Nicholson on Oct. 6, 1962 at Grace Methodist Church in Rockford. Allan and Diana enjoyed spending time at their lake house on Lake Wisconsin and also traveling to Lost Valley Resort in Vergas , MN for the last 40 years. From 1986-2015 he was the proud second generation owner of Nicholson Electric Inc. and because of his unwavering work ethic; he was able to purchase his own building. Allan was also a member of NECA-IBEW 364. He enjoyed playing volleyball and fast pitch softball and was on a traveling league. He played with the Rochelle Vagabonds. He totally enjoyed his Hononegah, class of 1961 classmates, enjoyed his reunions and monthly breakfast with the guys.
Survivors include his wife, Diana; Sons, Todd Hoover, Troy Hoover and Chad (Jennifer Burkett) Hoover; Grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Hoover, Janet (Adrian) Palafox) Ashley (Chuck) Finkenhofer, Ben (Joanna) Harris, Jacob (fiancee, Angela Slove) Harris and Gwyneth (Adam Zacharuk) Hoover; sister, Ruth Plock; sisters-in-law, Roberta and Georgian Hoover, Sherry Murphy, and Becky (Tom) Harvey; numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, OM "Red" and Barbara Nicholson; brothers, Paul and Bob Hoover; sisters, Jane (Jim) Keilbeck and Berniece (Donald "Olie") Olesen; brothers-in-law, Richard Plock and Terry Murphy.
Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford; followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Chaplain Darren Loeppky of OSF Hospice will officiate.
