Kind and Loving Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma
Alice L. Brown, 92, of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 3, 2014 at 2:50 a.m. in River Bluff Nursing Home. Alice was born on January 26, 1922 in Milbank, South Dakota. Daughter of Charles and Esther (Speckeen) Miller. United in Marriage to Paul S. Brown on April 26, 1942 in Polo. Alice was a loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family, and thought that all of her children and grandchildren were perfect in her eyes. She had a generous spirit, giving her family the irreplaceable gift of her time. She loved traveling to locations near and far, including Alaska and Hawaii. In addition to traveling across the United States, she also went to many countries in Europe. Formerly employed as a Department Manager at Rockford Dry Goods and Goldblatt's, and at Hilander. Survived by her children, Jerry (Linda) Brown of North Carolina, James (Patty) Brown of Winnebago, Vickie (Jeff) Krueger of Rockford, Kimberly Brown of Roscoe; grandchildren, Aimee, David, James, Eric, Annie, Jenny, Andrew, Becky and Carrie; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Naomi) Miller, Gladys Haring, Hazel Dorsey; sister-in law, Carole Miller, 5 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul and brother Leonard Miller. Member of the Cherry Valley Methodist Church, where she participated in the choir. Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 112 S. Cherry St. Cherry Valley. Visitation at 1 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. Monty Fox will officiate. Memorials to River Bluff or Cherry Valley UMC. Alice's family is grateful for the loving care provided by the exceptional staff of River Bluff.
