Albert T. Hoekstra, 85, of Rockford died on October 9, 2012. He was born on August 9, 1927 in Oak Park, son of Lloyd and Grace (Biehl) Hoekstra. Served in the United States Navy. United in marriage to Anne Gerritsma on December 29, 1950 in Sioux Center, IA. He was formerly employed as a salesman for Howell Tractor and as the Executive Director of IWHA. Al retired from his position as a lobbyist for Browning Ferris. He enjoyed golf and was a talented musician. Survived by his wife, Anne; children, Janna (Jack) Becherer of Rockford, Kathy (Rick) Omohundro of Fulton, MO, John (Jody) Hoekstra of Bloomington, Al Hoekstra Jr. of Northfield, MN, Dan (Amy) Hoekstra of Plainfield; grandchildren, Kelly, Emily (Matt), Molly, Joel, Mitchell, Abby, Bret, Garrick, Bonnie, Anna Grace; siblings, Edith Vetten of Atlanta, GA, and Lloyd (Dorothy) Hoekstra of Wheaton. Preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, William Vetten. A Memorial Service will be Monday, October 15, 2012 at noon at Midway Village, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford. Rev. John Hilbelink of Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made in Al's memory to the church.
