Wilma Jean Unzicker

Loved and Missed Wilma Jean Unzicker, 94, went to be with her Lord on May 19, 2015. Born November 7, 1920 in Chadwick, daughter of William and Eva (Brink) Schreiner. Graduate of Chadwick High School 1938 and Shimer College in 1940; where she was involved in many music programs. Married to Paul H. Unzicker in Philadelphia, PA on January 5, 1943. Paul was in the Navy, stationed overseas in 1944; while he was serving, Jean retuned to Chadwick where she worked in the music department of the school. When Paul returned from his deployment, he began working at the high school. They raised three children in Chadwick. In 1958 the family relocated to Rockford. Paul taught at Jefferson, and Jean taught piano and organ. She was a skilled musician, and inspired many students to love music. She worked as a pianist and organist for many years for area churches and organizations. In 1976 they retired and moved to Lake Summerset, where she was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #419. Upon Paul’s passing in 1990, Jean moved back to Rockford. Jean was loved and will be missed by many. Survived by her children, Sandra (Robert) Czarnowski, Harold (Diana) Unzicker, Kevin (Linda) Unzicker; grandchildren, Kelly (Bryan) Broederdorf, Keith (Kari) Feggestad, Melody (Al) Noon, Sim Czarnowski, Matthew Czarnowski, Cody Unzicker; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews and 1 niece. Memorial Service, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 112 S. Cherry St. Cherry Valley. Rev. Dick Wang will officiate.
