Phyllis Bee Ebbers, 77, of Rockford, formerly of Shirland, died July 10, 2013 at 1:04 p.m. She was born on June 26, 1936 in Rockford, daughter of Phillip and Ruth (Stotz) Sjostrom. Graduate of East High and Michigan State University class of 1958. United in Marriage to Harold “Lyle” Ebbers on November 28, 1959. She was employed as a 5th grade teacher in the Shirland School District for twenty years, where she was loved by her students. Phyllis created memorable and unique Christmas projects and holiday cards each year both at home and in the classroom. She loved travel, shopping, laughing, watching her children/grandchildren participate in sports and was known for her decorated sugar cookies created for holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed attending her sister Karin’s concerts. Survived by her children; Margie (Marty) Lenox of Byron; Jill (Helmuth Redschlag) Trojniar of Rockford; Tim (Lisa) Ebbers of Rock City; grandchildren: Amanda Archer of Winnebago; Nick (Angie) Severson of Harrison; Cpl Carissa Severson-USMC; Kylie Lenox of Byron; Colin and Kristi Ebbers of Rock City and 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Karin (Bart) Wilcox of Rockford, Bill (Genny) Sjostrom of Naples, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, and husband. A Celebration of Phyllis’ life will be on July 13, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 North 1st St. Rockford, with memorial visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Pastor Jay Quinn will officiate. Private Interment in Shirland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shirland School and Kishwaukee Valley Concert Band. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
