Mrs. Mary J. Butler

November 23, 1936 - November 3, 2021

Mary J. Butler, 84, of Rockford was called home to heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 3, 2021 at 11:02 a.m. Born November 23, 1936 in Chattanooga, TN; daughter of William and Jessie (Maiden) Pittman. Graduate of Rochelle High School. United in marriage to Larry A. Butler on June 12, 1955 at St. John's Church in Ashton. Mary was formerly employed at Fashion Bug, Lillian's and Subway. She enjoyed playing tennis, watching football, dancing and singing. She was a member of Heartland Community Church (Forest City Church) and the Blackhawk Athletic Association. Mary was an awesome mother, loving grandma and the best nana ever. She loved unconditionally. Her greatest joy was spending time with her treasured family. Survived by children, Vicki (Kevin) Klingbeil, Terri (Craig) Cook, Kristi (Steve) Henson; grandchildren; Kelly (Tyler) Hartzell, Erica (Michael) Hoover, Joshua (Limny) Henson, Zachary Henson, Kyle (Kara) Klingbeil; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Sally) Pittman, Marion (Ruth) Pittman; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Lindsay N. Cook and brother, Kenneth Pittman. Celebration of Mary's Life will be on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Pastor Angie Addy of Forest City Church will officiate. Visitation from 10 am. until the time of the service. Interment in Ashton Cemetery. Share a memory or condolence, visit www.graceFH.com.
