Lloyd E. King, beloved husband to Sharon for 54 years and father to Shelley, Eric, Andrea, died of complications of Alzheimer’s Disease April 25, 2014. Born in 1936, son of Elvis E. King and Doris Bartlett King. He grew up in Macomb, where his basketball playing finesse made him a local legend. He served as a military policeman and played basketball in the 101st Airborne. He obtained his BS and MS Degrees from W.I.U., where he played basketball for the Leathernecks and was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon. He was a teacher, coach, athletic director and school administrator. Retired in 1993 and captained the HMS Cashflow in the gulf and Caribbean for eight years. Sharon and their dog Cleat were his first and second mates. Lifetime member of the Rotunda Elks, LLL and previously, the Lyran, Lombardi, and American Legion. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Hildreth. He was a joyful man who loved to dance, boat and defeat his wife left-handed at tennis. Losing him has taken the sunshine from our lives. A memorial lunch will be June 16, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Westlake Village Community Center, 3820 Westlake Village Drive, Winnebago. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial bench in his honor. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
