Daniel Kenneth Novotnak, 68, of Rockton died on April 16, 2015 in his home. Born on September 16, 1946 in Oak Park, son of Myke and Lillian Novotnak. Dan graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. United in marriage to Pamela Lies on August 17, 1968 in Berwyn. Formerly employed at SwedishAmerican Hospital and Asta Care. Dan was involved in theater throughout his adult life. He was a skilled writer, performer and director. He was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where he shared his creative talent with the congregation. Even in the midst of the illness that he battled, he never lost his sense of humor and zest for life. Dan’s grandchildren brought him much joy, he loved spending time with them and reading stories. Survived by his wife, Pam; children, Brett (Beth) Novotnak of Kansas City, MO, Chad Novotnak of Normal, Heather (Daniel) Shotwell of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Hannah Novotnak-Huggins, Kole and Tate Shotwell; sister, Kathleen (John) Casiello of Lisle; niece, Jennifer (Robert) Dickinson of Nashville, TN; nephew, John (Carissa) Casiello of Schaumburg; and beloved dog, Midnight. Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Service Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2336 Freeport Rd. Rockton. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
