Ann (Hakes) Pearson 87 Anna Louise (Hakes) Pearson died on April 7, 2012 at The Neighbor’s Nursing Home in Byron, IL after a long illness. Ann was born on November 8, 1924 in Belvidere, Illinois the daughter of Clyde and Esther (Johnson) Hakes. She grew up in the 7th Street area, graduated from East High School in 1942 and married Irving L Pearson on Christmas Eve 1944. They had four sons. Before her retirement she worked as a greeter at Sam's Club and a deli cook for at the Hilander and Pacemaker Food Stores for many years. Ann was known for her great cooking especially Swedish Kroppkakors and Christmas Cookies. She loved hosting family get-togethers, and also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her sons: Ronald (Cindy) of Libby, Montana; and their children Christopher and Justice; Gary (Cheryl) of Leaf River; and their children Eric (Stephanie) and Lisa (Ben) Fenwick; James of Rockford and George of Roscoe and his children Zackary and Bianca. Stella Pearson, her Great Granddaughter. Sister Virginia (John) Henn of Elgin, IL; Brother William (Peg) Hakes of Rockford; Sister-in-laws; Bea Hakes of Rockford and Betty Hakes of Loves Park, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Irving in 1978, brothers James, Robert and Bud Hakes. Memorials can be made in Ann’s name to Northern Illinois Hospice 4215 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL 61108. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Northern Illinois Hospice and the Staff of The Neighbors Nursing Home for the care they gave Ann prior to her death. Graveside services will be held at Scandinavian Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Per Ann’s wishes there will be no visitation.
