  • Ed Emmenegger: When I was a new manager with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Wally was one of the first people I met. His funny stories and easy way with life, even when life was rough in spots, helped me to relax and settle into the job. He was much loved by the store employees at St. Vincent's, as well as the people in the food pantry where he volunteered. We missed him greatly when he moved out of Madison, but I will always keep his warm and welcoming spirit with me. - Ed Emmenegger

  • Georgia Pollard: I knew Mr. Jopke and his first wife when I was in grade school and junior high. I remember when their children Mary and William came to them, and I would babysit and play with them. Their collie, Minx, was the first dog I ever had a chance to assist in "training", as the Jopke's often let me walk Minx through the neighborhood. Mr. and Mrs. Jopke lived about 3 blocks from my family, and we all attended Lake Edge United Church of Christ in Madison, and I will always remember how wonderful and caring Mr. Jopke was when my Dad suffered a stroke. My condolences to Mary, William and the rest of the family. Georgia Pollard Madison, WI
